£500 for another 12000 miles

Hi all. So have narrowed next car choice down but looking the cash difference between two identical cars is as above. Both nissan qashqai 1.6 tekna 2008. Is 12000 miles less worth another £500?

As always all comments welcome

Depends on the mileages - if it's 12,000 vs. 24,000 then it's worth it. If it's 60,000 vs. 72,000 then maybe not.

As above, a bit of perspective could be useful here...

Mileage is as important as the overall condition of the car - so even onowing the mileage your talking here we couldn't possibly comment on whether the extra £500 would offer value for money.

One had 67000 the other 55000 and seem to be in similar condition

In your op you say they are "identical".

Now you don't seem so sure??

Ask the dealer why there is such a big price difference - there may be other differences, and if not do some haggling.
  • IF theyre both the same car, same spec, just the 12k miles difference, go and view both.

If youre going to a dealer, youre covered by the sale of goods act anyway, so you have a warranty by law whether the dealer specifies it or not.

If you can, offer cash. Or at least cash for a deposit as it generally leaves greater room for haggling. Above all, go and view both. If youre not happy, walk away. The majority of places put cars on the forecourt expecting to be knocked down a little, i.e if they want 15k for a car, they may advertise at 17k or 18k. If someone pays the asking price, theyre laughing, if someone pays 2k less than asking, the customer feels they got a good deal and the dealer still made what they wanted.

always go for the car with a full service history, if they both have a full service history you might find the cheaper one is due a service soon and the more expensive one has just had one carried out

Are the cars the same trim level ?. It could be that one has a full CD autochanger and bluetooth kit whilst the other dosnt.

As a lot of Qashqai's are ex-disability cars, so one might have danage inside the boot from carrying a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
