  • there were shocking sales tactics for us. The quote we got was ridiculous and once they realised we were getting other quotes and weren't interested in paying what they wanted, the HALVED the quote. By that time the last thing I was doing was give them my business. So supposedly, they get enough folks on the first quote to make it worthwhile p eeing off everyone else. We went for a local, but big, company who weren't the cheapest but had the best reviews and quality.

I know someone who has everest windows, from years ago when they were good. But in the last couple of years ive heard of a few people who have had bad experiences with them.. so its sounds like theyre not as good as they used to be.. its certainly put me off using them..

Saw a Grand Designs - or similar prog, where the retired lady was selling her house and having an amazing new home built in the grounds, with a huge glass area...which went a bit wrong.

The company who installed it, did put things right, with all the company names and logos hidden.

She was really very sweet about the whole mess and delays, saying she chose them because 'they were the best'.

And other Moneysavers who remember the earlier ad campaigns, who can read between the lines, they don't actually claim to be the best, what was actually said was... blah blah blah....'Fit the best...Everest...' so what they are doing is advising you to fit the best, then mentioning their name and not saying it is them!

And about the same time, another company was claiming to be Britains BEST double glazing...Thermastor. Featured on Tomorrows World with gas filled sealed units, with a wide gap.

    Wonder what happened to them.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

  • Used them this month - will never go near them again. We had a front door and side window and a surrounding entry porch of 5 panels we wanted replacing. Sales rep tried to sell us all of it and took a deposit of £820. When surveyor came round a week later he said the porch wasn't sellable by the rep as he worked for "core products" and the entry porch was "conservatories". So they reduced the core products project to the door and window - and reduced the cost of the project by about £6200. When conservatories came out to quote, that work was then quoted at over £11,000 so you may wish to believe Everest knowingly miss-sold their products to us in the first place to get us tied in to a contract and then bumped up the price by about £5000 when we couldn't say "no" to the first contract. So miss-selling? Deception by sales reps you might think.

Worse was to come. When they came to fit the door and window the fitter used a mallet to try and get the window frame out and damaged the front of the house. That was left unsecure for over two weeks and customer service in that time was non-existent. Now I am querying the miss-selling they are threatening legal action. This is a real matter of buyer beware and my personal recommendation, based on my experience, is find another company. We have ended up having a lot of windows replaced since he door and porch and we used DG Solutions - I would rate them very highly - fair price, quick turn around, professional work and no mess left. And they did five windows in one day. Everest took 6 days to fit the door and the porch, when they finally got round to it.

  • I would class myself as a discerning buyer and would not make any significant purchase without checking out the company supplying it. Everest have a manufacturing plant about the size of Wembley Stadium situated near my aunt in Treherbert nr Cardiff and another the same size in Essex.

in 2005 The Advertising Standards Authority ruled that Everest "still had a significant advantage over their competitors" and confirmed that Everest could still use "the best" in their advertising. Make of that what you will.
  • Hi
I have had 6 window installations by Everest and i can say they are up there with the best, one of the windows has been installed facing a south facing garden so was exposed to high summer temperatures and in winter freezing conditions for over 20 years and i haven't had a single problem. Also check out Anglian same product but be ware if you want a door there will be a gap of 3mm between the door frame and the door due to removing a seal and they haven't modified the door.I hope this helps.
Everest purchase the frames from a company in Germany and i believe they manufacture the Glass sealed units themselves but in any case they guarantee the sealed units for at least 20 years to a lifetime covered by Barclays.

Their frames are manufactured in Treherbert, South Wales and in Essex. Huge plants, each bigger than Wembley Stadium.
