Travel insurance claim

I've made a claim on my travel insurance for lost items. They have contacted me and advised as my home contents insurance covers losses away from the home they will be contacting my insurance company.
I paid extra to have the premium policy to ensure I had adequate cover and no excess. My home insurance has £100 excess. Is this normal for travel insurance to pass the buck? I'm a bit annoyed as it means loosing £100 and appears my travel insurance policy was a waste of money.

If your loss was for less than 100 pounds then your travel insurance should cover it. If it was greater then the two insurers should share the loss.0 -

Does that mean if they share it, I will loose £100 from the part my home insurance covers?0 -
Perhaps check the terms and conditions.
I would be certainly annoyed if this happened to me - it seems the Travel insurer are trying to get out of paying on-their side, and make you're home insurer pay (which means that you could lose you're no claims discount/will have to declare this on renewal, which could cause you're premiums to increase, depending on the insurer).
Are you're travel insurer and home insurer the same? Do you mind naming the travel insurance company?Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
This is standard practice on travel insurance it's know as a contribution claim.
I know on my home policy I don't have to pay the excess if it is a contribution claim but might be different for different companies
They normally don't impact your NCB or your renewal but again may be different depending on insurerFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
