Right I was going to stay on economy 7 but I have now got a good convector heater in front room which I can use as and when I want. I still have. Storage heater in bedroom which I will prob turn off. Also my hot water is not on economy 7. So what's the point on being on economy 7 ???
  • If you still, 22 posts into this thread, don't understand the connection between economy 7 and your storage heater, I can only suggest you look for a new house.

Storage heaters should be on at night on cheap rate.
Then then release heat slowly during the day or when the knob it turned up.

So they are quite good for bedrooms to kept them warm during the night

I don't care about the storage heaters. They are not being used. I thought my water was on economy 7 but it's not. So why be on economy 7. There is no point

There's every point. Try reading the good advice you were given...even if your DHW is not on E7, your heating is, or can be. It's up to your LL to maintain the heating, so repairing the NSH's won't cost you anthing. Once fixed, all your heating will be a third of the cost of runnning a convector, and that's more important than the hot water.
If you come off E7 you may also require a meter change at a cost of around £60, plus possible electrician's costs for sorting out the former E7 circuit, and you can't expect the LL to pay for that.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
