Hi

Just a quick question please if anyone can offer any advice. I have had some PPI policies with Barclays Bank for various loans. 3 have been cancelled due loan finishing etc but one policy still live which was taken out 1998.

My question then, is it still worth filing a PPI complaint on this policy if a claim for sickness has been made some 3 yrs ago?

Regards

  • If you successfully claimed during sickness, what would your reason for complaint be?

I have read reports that despite a successful sickness claim some people have still pursued a PPI policy mis-sell, because it was possibly still mis-sold at point of sale.

Prior to the sickness claim I was already in receipt of 8 months employers sickness benefits, but as I had the PPI policy in place I thought I might as well try and use it rather than ignore it.

If you have claimed on the PPI then you still can complain about the sale. However, a claim reduces your chances of success as you cannot complain that you didnt know about it or that you were ineligible or didnt need it. The claim showed you did.

Plus, if your complaint is successful, they will deduct the amount paid out on the claims from the redress and for most people that results in nothing being paid as they got more under the claim.
