Although I have never tried it, you could be correct. The one on Queen Street/Queen Victoria Street does not have a card machine, you manually enter the sort code and account number, so technically you could enter one from any bank.
No reason to doubt you maninthestreet.
The only annoying thing is that is *'s out the numbers (like password entry) so you cannot confirm you put in the right details! I am always doubting myself!
Metro also now have a branch along Cheapside. But I don't know how they work in there.0 -

thats pretty much what i do. When i goto the supermarket, i will grab a handful of spare coins, then just put them in the self scan, then what ever balance is left i put on my card.
and you dont have to pay the fee like you do with the coin counting machines in some supermarkets0 -
I always get rid of them in self service tills, pouring them inProud to be a member of the Anti Enforcement Hobbyist Gang.:D:T0

No HSBC coin machines have a card reader.
I never considered that it might be able to pay into a different bank, but I wouldn't expect it to work. I don't want to test it out either, even if it would only cost 1p.
It does work for FD, obviously
I get rid of coins by using them. There is no reason to ever have more than £10 of change with you unless you are making a profit out of it0
