just had my bill from npower, who say i am now £175 in credit.i was paying £192 a month dual fuel dd.they have now said they are going to cut my dd payment to £98 a month as i would build up excessive credit if i kept paying the 192 a month. although it is great to have almost a £100 extra a month,i prob will end being in debt when it come t getting my next bill. i was thinking of telling them to increase by dd to £140 a month,do people think that sounds a reasonable figure.

cheers

scott

If you look at the bill it will show you how much nPower think you will spend in fuel over the coming 12 months. This may be wildly inaccurate but post it on here if you like so we can see if it's somewhere near a sensible amount.

Divide that by 12 and you get your Direct Debit payment.

If the bill was up to date and using actual readings, check to see if they are going to automatically refund the credit.

It's more complex than you might think but that would give a reasonable idea.

If they aren't automatically refunding the credit you can ring and ask for them to do so, or leave it and reduce the DD accordingly so the credit is used up over the coming months.

They are supposed to issues bills and reassess the DD every 6 months.
