Afternoon All,
I graduated back in 2006 in IT but since this time I've drifted away from IT with my job etc being more focused on finance, analysis and accountancy.
I thought it might be a good idea to keep my options open career wise and perhaps do a course in a programming language or perhaps just a general IT course.
I know this is vague but I'd like to concentrate on the software side, does anyone recommend and such courses for me either ones I could do online or ones I can enroll at an evening class for?
Thanks

There's loads of resources for Web development online. Start with HTML and work your way through CSS, jQuery and Javascript.
Here's a good starting point: http://www.w3schools.com/0 -

That looks like what I'm after, is there anywhere that give out official qualifications (that employers would recognise) upon completing courses?0 -
Good question. Short answer is that I don't think there are.
The closest are probably the Microsoft Certified qualifications, but I don't know if they have one for Web Development.
Since you already have an IT degree, I'm not sure that a general Web qualification will necessarily add that much, especially if you can point to some high quality practical work that you've done using your new skills.0 -
Where about's in the UK are you?
In Scotland you can get upto £200 towards training (ILA Scotland) if you're out of work or on a low income. their are a few IT related courses from "intro to Java" to "Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)"
Not sure if their is equivalent funding in England.
But check out local Colleges and uni's for part time / weekend courses.Laters

I'm from Northern Ireland, I'm currently employed but I would like to do a recognised IT course in the evening to refresh my skills.0
