The Help to Buy "pot" is not endless as understand it and there is a limit so when it runs out, then no one else can take advantage of it.
If you choose to go down this route, you are taking the opportunity from someone else who does not have the the ability to save a large deposit.
Don't be so selfish, get yourself a good mortgage rate with your hefty deposit and be done with it - your level of selfishness really is astounding and I for one hope you are deemed not suitable for the funding!0 -
I see there are plenty of soap boxes kicking around.............0

"The maximum purchase price is £400,000."
In all fairness if you can afford to buy a £400,000 home then how can you possible need help.
With a 20% loan from the government, the mortgage would be 320K. Based on 3 times joint income, the household income must be over 100K
So how can anyone with 100K salary need help to buy a home?
Answer is they don't, of course they can afford to buy a home, but just want one that costs 400K because the government is prepared to loan them 20%
Now if the scheme had been aimed at 1st time buyers only, for either new or old build then I would have said this is a worthwhile scheme.0
