Can't remember who sold me PPI?

Hello,
I have left this a bit late but at some stage I know I had Payment Protection Insurance without even knowing it. I think it was with Egg Credit Cards/Mint Credit Cards possibly in the early 2000's when I was a student.
I will of course do the research and read all the "stickies" but for a quick answer I wonder if there is a quick way of establishing if I have had PPI in the past and who with?
Obviously I no longer have the Credit Card and I think it may have dropped off my Credit File..
Just wondered if there were any central places I can look ?
Thanks.

No. Unless you can remember who you had credit with, no-one else will know.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

The PPI payment would have been on every single statement you received, listed seperatel, every month. How can you say you didn't know you had it?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I was 23 at the time and I am now 34.. Unfortunately I do not keep statements for 11 years.. and my priorities at the time were hardly worrying about whether I noticed I had PPI.. I do vaguely recall that I did have PPI because it showed up as "Payment Insurance"...0

Regardless, if you don't have proper memory or documentation of this finance it's difficult to see you getting anywhere progressing a complaint.0 -
You may feel the points above are picky. However, you should take note because you are not complaining about the product. You would be complaining about how it was sold to you. It is not a product issue but a sales issue. This is why the responses have focused on what you have said here as you appeared to contradict yourself.
As a student at the time of sale (if that was the case) you could have a good complaint reason. However, evidence of payment could be an issue on a closed account going back that far. So, its going to be a difficult one.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Ok, well let me rephrase the initial posting which I made.
I had PPI Insurance but cannot accurately remember who the provider was. From a vague recollection I believe it may have been Egg Credit Cards or Mint Credit Cards and definitely not through a bank account etc.
The reason for my post was to establish if there is a documentary trail anywhere other than the obvious places like the Credit File to establish who sold it and who I can approach with my enquiry.
Hopefully that clears things up.0 -
You can send both companies a SAR and £10 each to see what documetation they have, but as a speculative approach, you may go through a lot of £10's until you find someone who did sell you something.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
