Wrong name on credit search/application ?

Hi , a few weeks ago my partner applied for car finance, it was done online on the car dealers (sellers) website,at the time she said the website was rather poor and the pages kept timing out or not allowing her to input data correctly but she finished the application and waited to hear.
the next day a chap from the dealership telephoned and straight away queried her year of birth, which is 1977,he said oh i though it was 87,which straight away i didnt quite understand because even if it was 1987 that would still make her 27 ? so why ask ? as its still old enough to apply for credit/finance so why even bring it up ?
so then he says ok im going to run the application with the creditors now it will take 2 hours and i'll phone you back........... literally 5 minutes later he calls back and says its been declined and hes tried several companies and they all said no, i thought well !!!!!! me he did that quick and what happened to 2 hours ?
fast forward a couple of weeks and my partner logs into her experian account and see's the search he ran, theres only 1 search been made BUT its in the wrong name. he used her middle name as her first name ? and theres no mention of her actual first name anywhere on the search.
Im thinking now that this chap has inputted the wrong information regarding my partner when hes ran the application,he clearly knew her first name as he used it the very first time he called but i have a feeling he'd already run the application before he called
anyways we have emailed experian to see what /if we can do anything about this wrong name issue and i guess im asking here do they know if this can be altered and will it effect any future credit applications ? experian have not replied yet so we are playing the waiting game
thanks for reading

I'd be pretty surprised if a lender can connect to someone's credit file using the wrong name but could be wrong.
Maybe they did do the search under the correct info yet theirs been desire pencils within the credit search info on Experian itself."You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -
desire pencils ? sorry ive never heard that term before0

*chuckles* silly phone indeed
do you think this could effect future applications ? tbh if i was a creditor id be wondering if the person (my missus) had attempted fraud !0 -
If the credit application search appears on her credit file then that potential lender did successfully check her actual credit file.
If the dealer did try with other lenders and those searches do not appear on any of her credit files (experian/equifax/callcredit) then likely the other potential lenders were unable to identify your OH and so gave an automatic decline.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank you tixy, should we be worried about the wrong name on the credit search ?0

quick update on this, experian have emailed today saying that they are contacting barclays to issue a notice of dispute over the data they have added to the credit profile, hopefully it should all get sorted soon0

barclays have been back onto experian and said as far as they are concerned the data is correct so they will not remove or change the search entry ? this has left me annoyed ! , some one has messed up somewhere and now theres a false/wrong name on my wifes credit file
experian have advised to contact barlclays direct, do you think we should conteact this car dealer too ? as we are convinced its his error that has led to this wrong entry0 -

I've convinced it's not the error (DOB) that caused the rejection.
Even if they mistakenly put the wrong DOB they still found the correct credit file with the correct name and credit history of the person who applied and it's the credit history that caused rejection."You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -
Im not overly concerned about the rejection at the moment, are you saying that even with the wrong name, they found the correct credit file ? and would this effect future creidt applications ?0
