Quick question re: Car Hire

This may sound like a silly question, but if you hire a car (in the UK) does this include insurance or do you have to have your own insurance?

My car has just been written off by my insurers. I am considering hiring a car for 2-3 weeks so I don't have to buy a car in a huge rush, but my insurance is due for renewal on Saturday and obviously I'd prefer not to renew until I know what car I am buying and can do a proper search for the best insurance at that time.

Reading the car hire websites it looks as though I'd be covered on their insurance but it's not 100% clear.

Depends where you hire it from and if you already have cover for the car.

We used to hire all sorts of vehicles on the company insurance. Fully covered under the policy so it costs less.

Usually its included in the price on mainstream rentals though. But dont forget to check the policy excess. Handing the car back with a little scratch could cost you hundreds of pounds.
