Thoughts - thinking of moving to North Wales

"Dont be mistaken and dont be mislead we are not scousers were from Birkenhead" .Compared to South east Coastal region forests are fairly thin on the ground there too. People like to live and drive by the seaside so trees become in the way . Newborough on Angelsey is excellent though. It all comes down to cash and making it work for you . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

As a Caernarfon holiday home owner who lives on The Wirral have you thought about doing both . Houses around Wirral are mainly decent and well priced . Plenty of areas surrounded by beaches and parks for walking and quiet time . Gwynedd is mainly stunning with some great places to stay and the right side of the Menai for Anglesey ha . A fab train journey along the welsh coastline if you dont drive too. Chester to Delamere area is really nice too . If you want anymore info feel free to ask , cheers GF
Yes, just what we love, posh scousers buying holiday homes in Wales. :cool:Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I'm not posh nor a scouser. I do like to help the Gwynedd economy by getting there as often as possible and spending as much as i can from my dole money on frosty jacks though. Please dont diss the holiday home owners as tourism is a major form of income and important as it is to Liverpool . (Smiley face with sunglasses back to you )I was in a very nice italian on Bangor Pier in October it was like little Liverpool with a few manks too . Owner says weekend home owners make up 70%+ of their weekly trade, hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

+ as i pay full council tax im entitled to call on and vote for my local council in both Wirral & Gwynedd:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

North Wales and Anglesey are beautiful places to be and live in. If it's forestry, try the Newborough side of the island with an amazing beach which is popular with all walkers.
Sheep aren't an issue, that would be your dogs problem. I live in a rural village and the sheep are in the lanes and roads. Train your dog. We have 3 shepherds and have never had a problem. But I do take a lead with me if its getting a bit sheep busy. I live 200 yards from the common and in the hills.
Transport wise, we have bad weather just the same as the rest of the UK. We've had problems twice in 15 years. Is that really so bad? We don't mind the English, if they have some consideration for the fact we locals do speak Welsh. Would the same question be asked if you were moving to France or Germany?
Property is perceived to be expensive here, but we have industry and commerce and some of the most stunning views in the UK. People pay a premium to live here for a reason. Holiday homes is just one of them. Demand drives the market. You get what you pay for. Possibly consider a coastal town on the mainland if the thought of the bridge is too horrific. Llanfair PG might be an option, just minutes off the A55 and I regularly travel to Northumberland as we have family and friends. A journey is what you make of it.
I hope you enjoy your search and if you do make the move I am sure you'll find we are actually a quiet peaceful bunch of folk.
Beresford Adams in Menai bridge has some great properties (no. I don't work for them) but the office staff are fab and friendly. I was looked after by Carol.:T wealth is a state of mind :T0 -
Menai Bridge is worth a shout if you want to live on Anglesey beaumaris too . Dillons is another great fish restaurant. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

70% of his business would be taken up by LOCALS, as there would be more of them, if so many holiday home owners didn't buy up the properties thus pushing up property prices beyond the reach of LOCALS. Then there is the subject of destroying our culture and our language. If you want to live in Wales then live here - not buy holiday homes - and learn the language!
As for tourism being 'a major form of income' we welcome TOURISTS just NOT holiday home owners, for reasons stated above.0 -
I own a home in Wales because I like the place and saves me driving home at the end of the day . Disagree about your LOCAL thoughts . We are a big part of your economy . im not buying anything you cannot afford to buy yourself .In fact ive bought a few and hire some out to mainly Englisg people to enjoy what I enjoy . No need to thank me . Yr wyf yno oherwydd fi cariad y bobl a'r lle . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

You are buying things we can not afford, OUR HOUSES for the reasons stated above. No, I won't thank you for buying others and hiring them out to other English people, thanks. I see you used an online translator. You're obviously a wind up merchant so translate this, Dewch yn nol Meibion Glyndwr!0

you don't think the threat of burning down my gaff worries me in the slightest .Im from Birkenhead . happens all the time . Just had to buy a knock off phone off a scally just to post this . I am a council tax payer so entitled to all I can get from Gwynedd Council too . CADW is useful to for entrance into all the things built to keep us out . free too . Was it Not the 9 oclock news that said "come home to a ral fire . buy a cottage in wales " funny then as funny now . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
