Npower in credit

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help.

I've just checked my bill ( I receive both gas and electric from npower) I currently pay £45 per month for my combined energy. However, I am in credit by £600. They say that they will estimate your yearly spend as obviously I will use more in the winter than the summer but is £600 a bit excessive? I regularly submit my meter readings so I don't get why I am in credit by so much.

Should I ask for a refund?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    You have to check your meters and check the balance is a real one based on a correct current reading (submitting readings does not guarantee statements are generated using them.)

    If the balance is correct then you should certainly demand a refund.

    You don't say how long you have been an n'power customer to have built up an apparent Credit Balance of £600 when your present monthly £45 D/D payments total only £540 a year
    It would take a long time to build up a credit balance that is larger than the total cost of your annual use

    DO NOT RELY just on what n'power say or put on a bill - Their entire systems are in a complete mess - Check your meter readings regularly and check every figure and calculation on their bills

    Check the dates of meter readings on the bill.

    For example your bill might have been produced 20th Jan 2014 and include all payments made but the usage might only be for say Feb 12th - Feb 28th 2013 hence the large credit.

    Ring them up with a meter reading and ask them to bill you up to date to see what the actual credit is at this moment in time and then they can try to refund it if the systems work.
