road tax online V5 not recognised help pleas??

Hi guys just went on-line to tax my car

I have had the car for 9 years and used thw V5 several times on-line, but it rejects it saying V5 invalid but it's not. any ideas as I cannot get road tax.

I assume the post office won' be able to use the V5 either???

any ideas???

You don't use your V5c now. You just need the renewal notice, have you got the code from your renewal notice?

no not had one in post!!! shall i go to the post office do you think. a pain as it's 7 miles away!!

The renewal is 7 miles away or the post office?

Lots of V5's went walkies from the DVLA so they changed it to the red V5C. That was a couple of years ago now. Even the cars i have on SORN got the new red one.

i still have the old one!! Nothing else have arrived and I knew nowt about it until I applied on-line for my tax!!

yes the PO is 7 miles away so I had to drive there pay to park and drive back. luckily they accepted the old V5!! I didn't receive my tax reminder either so I think much of my post must be going walkies!!
