Years ago, I was told that garlic was safe to give to cats. It was supposed to work as a systemic flea repellent. I asked my vet and he was horrrified, he said as a member of the onion family it can be toxic to cats. I felt suitably chastened! Something you can use around the house for fleas and other pests is diatomaceous earth - sprinkle it into the cracks and corners (avoid inhaling the dust). Leave, then vacuum up.0
