Bus Stop

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes!
We have always had a bus stop on our road which is situated two properties away from our house.
Last year, our road was resurfaced and the bus stop was extended and now stretches up to our property. This was done without consultation and includes double red lines!
Is there anything I can do? I'm concerned it will affect the value of my property.
Thanks.

I would have thought that the presence of a bus route past any property might enhance its value. Most people would give their right arm to have a regular bus service.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

That's a point open to debate, near to a bus route yes. But I bet now many would really want it outside their front door.
I can imagine that being on a red route won't enhance the value either.0 -
Well, our bus stop is actually outside next door. We have 90 ft frontages. I can't say that it affected the price of the house when it was bought a couple of years ago.I can afford anything that I want.

Road marking locations appear to be in the hands of local councils.
If you think a double red line harms your property value. ring an estate agent & ask? (The option of on road parking outside your home has certainly gone, for the moment!)
No harm in *trying* to appeal that you weren't consulted or request that the markings be moved along a bit.0 -
A red route will definitely devalue the price of your property, as will a bus stop outside. I'd personally never consider a house with a bus stop outside or very close to my house & know lots of people who feel the same way.
If you don't get anywhere with asking the council about it, then I'd advise you to contact your local mp & get them on your side. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

As far as I know, if it's a red route in London, then the road is under control by Transport for London, and not the local council?0 -

Not really sure this will help. After all the stop will presumably have to be outside someone's house so unless there is some space that isn't outside a house the council will presumably ask why someone else has to put up with it and not you.
It's similar to the telephone pole opposite our house, I'd rather not look out on it and the mass of untidy wires hanging from it, but I can't think of a good reason why someone else should instead of me ;-)Solar install June 2022, Bath

Yes I think it is TFL and that's who I will try and contact.
Thankfully Google street view still has the old road markings so I have taken screen shots of ths situation as it was so no one can try annd pull a fast one.
I think the analogy of the telegraph post is slightly different; I'm assuming that was there before you bought the property? This bus stop and red route have come into effect AFTER I purchased the house. Personally, I wouldn't buy a house with a red route outside y front door - where will guests park? It's an inconvenience.
I think I'm within my rights to request the revert back to the original markings or compensate me. Let's see what happens.
Thanks for all the replies0
