disputing an old ccj

Long story cut short...
I have a ccj issued in 2009 for rent arrears and damage to the property. I have actively disputed this to the landlord (housing association) over the last few years verbally. They took me to court and sent the paperwkrk to an old address so I knew nothing of the court proceedings. l did pay some of the debt and arranged a payment plan as I had been threatened by a baliff but defaulted/suspended payments as I was still arguing my case.
I would like to know if anyone can advise me on the best way to dispute this claim even though it is old? The amount is over £3000 for a property I was in for 18 months charged £101 weekly rent and was on full housing benefit??? The sums don't add up and despite regularly asking for a breakdown I've not received one.
The damages were not me. There were interior doors missing, broken sockets and holes in walls when I moved in. As it was an exchange I moved in literally as the old people moved out so no comprehensive checks were done on the property before I began my tenancy. A full check was carried out when I left and now I'm being charged fir their damage.
I am currently looking to move and the ccj is proving a problem with a new landlord (I'm now private renting) it hardly looks good that I owe 3k to an old landlord so I don't blame them for rejecting me!!
Can anyone offer me advice? The ccj has been issued but do I have any chance of reversing it and also disputing the 3k with the housing association?
Thank you

Hi
The only way to dispute a CCJ is to try to make a set aside claim.
Did your ex landlord have your correct address?

Note that one of the items a court will consider is how promptly you make the set aside claim from when you find out about the CCJ - this could be an issue for you.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
