HELP! Overcharged by Domain Provider Netregistry

Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank you all in advance for the help!
So, I had a domain registered with Planet Domain, which was supposed to expire last week. Having searched for Planet Domain, I saw that it had been taken over by Netregistry (based in Australia) as far as I know.
I therefore managed to login to my account, but was unable to renew my domain online. I therefore started a chat session with support. I was advised that I would have to fill out a manual renewal form to authorise a payment of £77.82.
I filled out this form and sent it to Netregistry. A few hours later I received an email that the domain had been renewed, but to my shock, they had invoiced me, and taken £117.95 from my account!!!
I have been trying to get hold of support and their feedback department with no avail. I feel robbed of this additional £40! If I had known that it was going to be this much I would have moved domain providers. They didn't even let me know in advance that my domain was expiring so I had no time to do any research.
What are my options now? Surely it is illegal taking a sum of money greater than of what was authorised? Should I get my credit card company to reverse the payment?
All help would be very kindly appreciated!
Thanks again,
pavanpaw

What tld is your domain?
What sort of package do you have with them?
Is your bill definitely in GBP?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply!
-- The TLD is .uk.com
-- I have no hosting package with them - simply domain registration
-- Bill was definitely GBP confirmed by credit card statement.
Kind Regards,

The original price seems expensive for uk.com.
I pay £59.97 for 2 years including free hosting.0 -
Wow, how you paying that much for a domain0

Technically, paying that much for a subdomain. UK.com is just a domain with the chap that owns it flogging off subdomains to others as it was desirable
Met the chap that owned it, not sure if he still does, nice chap and more than slightly envious of his success from a basic idea0
