Parking Valet service charged me twice

This company changed me twice and are currently refusing to pay me back. I have sent them a bank statement screenshot to prove it, but they have come up with all kinds of excuses - the main one saying they can not see back past 3 months (it was 18 months ago).
They have also said its my responsibility to tell them of their mistake at the time. Although obviously this equates to theft. Trouble is, this was all done by phone and I do not think I can prove it by an email... is there anything I can do?
I have seen the same complaint about this company on various forums - they operate from Gatwick Airport - don't use them, they'll rip you off.

Any advice would be appreciated.

    It took you 18 months to notice that you had been double charged?

    How did you pay? If you used a credit card then your issuer may be able to help but they could also have a time limit on claims.

    I have occasionally got double charged for online transactions due to glitches on their website or with the bank's authentication - it happened last week with a cinema booking. Companies are usually fine with refunding this money but you really need to report it quickly.
