Balance Tranfer problem with Amex 15 digit card no.

I'm trying to transfer my existing balance from Amex card to Halifax but they can't do it because Amex card has only 15 digit card number while the standard card number is 16 digit.

I did it both online and call customer service but no luck - they said I need 16 digit number only!

Does anyone have the same issue and how did you resolve it?

Any suggestion will be much appreciated as I really do need to transfer this balance asap.

Not quite the same, but i had a problem with my barclaycard.
The number wasn't being recognised so they couldn't process the transfer. (the first few digits were no longer valid for barclaycard)

In the end i had to give them the sort code and account number for barclaycard, and they put it through that way.

perhaps something similar can be done for amex.

id suggest contacting amex and see what they say

Maybe try adding a leading zero to the number. This works with some current account numbers, but ask first.
