Online conveyancing eg: iconvey

Hi all, I'm ready to instruct a solicitor and am having a variety of quotes. My local firm is offering £1000 + vat for legal fees plus all the searches so probably £2200 all in. Iconvey online is quoting £1100 including everything, plus also they are offering no legal fees if the sale falls through.
I know you get what you pay for, but an extra £1100 seems a lot. Reviews for iconvey are mixed, and the bad reviews on another thread on here are all from brand new posters with only one post so I don't trust them! Has anyone else had good/bad experiences with them as currently thru seem very professional and I'm tempted to go with them.
Alternatively any local firms to south London (mitcham) that could be recommended?
Thanks in advance!
Andrew

Have you had a detailed breakdown showing exactly what each is including in their quote? In particular, searches and Stamp Duty (if applicable).
I can't comment specifically on iconvey but generally, you do get what you pay for. Having a solicitor you can speak to directly, and physically meet up with can be very helpful, as is having one with local knowledge.
If your purchase has (or may have) any complications they are more likely to be able to deal - has the property had any extensions or other work done? Is there any ground rent?
a 'tick box' conveyancing factory may do fine provided that everything is very straightforward and there are no complications, unfortunately, you don't normally know in advance whether that is likely to be be the case.0 -
Hi Guys,
Andrew I'm in the same boat. My mate used iConvey, said they were great and recommended them but I'm wondering if anyone has had a bad experience lately? I'm just nervous and aware I have to act quickly. I've searched around and any bad reviews seem to be from ages ago.???0 -
Sorry I'm new to this and noticed your posts are from Jan. Do you mind me asking who you went for in the end and would you recommend them?0
