I got given a laser pointer for my cat at Christmas, for the first couple of days he absolutely loved it and as soon as he heard it being clicked on would come running. After he had caught up with the red dot a few times though and realised that it wasn't something he could eat he lost interest and went back to his old favourites. He likes to play with toys he can chew and get his claws in to so unfortunately the laser pointer didn't make the grade. Occasionally I will get it out and he will chase the dot for a little while, but very half heartedly, I think he only plays with it now to humour me!
I had no idea they could be bad for cats though!

I wouldn't call them bad by any means, just a toy which needs a bit more thought :)

Is the one on zooplus the fish shaped laser? I bought one expecting it to be a dot but the laser ends up showing a little red fish instead. The eldest cat liked it either way - young at heart he is. The others weren't to fussed.
