orange failing to cancel contract

hi looking for some advice, i have a mobile contract with orange at 15.50 a month and a ten pound dongle which is now cancelled.
The problem is i asked to cancel the dongle over a year ago in the same conversation that i got my new phone contract, i rang orange to get a refund but they said its my fault for not checking my bills.
Is there any way i can get this money back?
they said there is no record of me asking to cancel it. i never get a breakdown on my paper bill and it doesnt show up in the orange app i only realised when i checked on my online acvount

You can send them a Subject Access Request advising them that you wish a copy of all data they hold on you, including copies of telephone recordings (or transcripts thereof). They are allowed to charge up to £10 to service the SAR.
The recording (or transcript) should give you the ammunition you need to get them to refund you.
(If they say you needed to cancel in writing, yet they allowed you to take out a new contract over the phone, then the demand for cancellation in writing may be an unfair term).0 -
Then no, if there is no confirmation from them and you have no proof they won't refund you. Best to do it now and this time check it's done so you don't have the same problem next year.0
