Late payment cahrge on 0% interest card ??

Options
Hi All

I have ALWAYS paid my cards of in full each month, however last December i had cashback on a Barclaycard at 0% for 6 months and had the small interest cahrge added to load amount.

I was informed on the phone that i would not have to pay ANYTHING for 6 months.

I have just had a letter stating i have a charge of £12 for NOT paying the minimum payment which would not of been a problem at all.

Is this correct or have i missed something ?

Is it norm to pay the min of these even though you have 0% for a set period ??

Thanks

Yes - you always need to make min payments.

You'll probably now have lost the 0% promo, so best to get on the phone, grovel and set up a DD to see if you can get it back.

Maybe - see above (I edited my original post but a little late).

I would imagine you've mis-understood as even though CSA's are often wrong with info given out, I highly doubt they would be about this very basic principle.

You ALWAYS have to make at least the minimum payment by the due date......as instructed to do so on your online or paper statement. What does yours say ?

IF it's your first offence you'll probably get the £12 refunded and possibly the 0% offer reinstated. You need to make a call.

Spending a minute a month reading your statement can help avoid any misunderstanding.

I think people need to be aware of the basic principles of CC usage- pay at least the minimum payment.

IMO we need a 'Dummies guide to Credit cards' as a sticky!
