Equifax registration error -address endless loop

Hi

I have just successfully obtained my reports from experian and noodles, but when i try to register with equifax to get their report as well i experience following error:

Step 1 register last point 'your address'.
I enter my current address which is over 6 years now, then i enter the previous address, and then it keeps asking for addresses prior to that but they were abroad so the post codes come up with invalid.

Both experian and noodles have been happy with only my current address given the length of time ive lived here now.

I am unable to progress the equifax registration unless i find a way to get past the address part, so any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Many thanks

  • just phone them
  • Hi

There is no phone number in the registrations part.
I have googled and found a website suggesting to get the contact details from the members area, but not yet being registered this is not something i can access.
I have found 0800 7839421 on google and called, theres an automated message saying the number is no longer in use but no alternative is provided.

So if anyone could point me towards an active phone number for equifax this would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

Btw attempted registration again today thinking maybe their systems were playing up last night, same thing again, tripping over the 3rd address requirement.

Is there not an option for 'no more previous addresses' or similar that you could tick?

The only equifax phone numbers I know of are
Plus note down how to cancel: To request cancellation, call 0844 335 0550 (020 7298 3000, and asking for customer services can also work) and select option three. Quote your product reference.

  • Thanks a lot for the numbers.
I called them today, apparently they will keep asking for previous addresses until you provide 10 years worth of history. If you have been in the country less than 10 years then you need to add enough years to the oldest address entry to make up 10 years in total and then contact them by phone to get it amended to what it should have been e.g. 1 year instead of 4. Strange enough but ok duly actioned.

I fill everything in, including verification questions etc and it comes up with error registration failed you need to contact us. So i called them and apparently theres nothing wrong with any of the data i provided and they ask all their customers to do this because they only release the report to the right person. The gave me another reference number to use for below purpose
    go to equifax.co.uk/ask
upload a scanned version of drivers license or passport and a utility bill from the last 3 months
after that it takes 24 to 48 hours to verify and then i would get an email to say its all good to go and i can finally access my report.

Given that ive been able to access my reports with the other 2 providers instantly without any of this hassle, what am i missing ? Are equifax always this awkward or have they got some info on the report the other 2 do not have ?

In terms of the extra telephone verification - this is often needed if a person has no credit history or very little showing with that particular agency. It means it is harder for them to verify the details you have provided are correct and therefore that you are the customer.

Depends on your individual history with each agency, other people have found experian hard to get and equifax easier.

  • Update: they have given green light within the hour so i can read my report. For my credit score however they want another £5.99. So much for free trial. If i order that will it impact on my credit score ironically or is it a soft search and it wouldnt matter ?

  • I have had exactly the same drama with Equifax - 20 minutes on the phone, trying to remember how much a month I paid on an account which was paid off 7 years ago, exact dates of starting bank accounts etc (14 years ago) and finally, they want me to send them two forms of identification (70p postage on top of the phone bill - via mobile). And as the OP says, £5.99 for the credit score.
I told them to forget it, and to ensure they didn't take any money!
Experian was instant (well, I had to wait a couple of days for a letter from them with a code number, but the actual registration was straightforward).
    Off to try Noddle now.
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
