Eurotunnel travel from £19 per car

Options
from http://www.driveline.co.uk/postcard/

but with the nice friendly note: "Day trips must not be used as single tickets. If you do not return when stated your card will automatically be charged the full return fare."

Now I don't see how they can enforce this - i.e. my car had a flat, there was traffic, etc - so if you want to stay longer than a day, surely this is a cheap way of doing it, then just do the same/simlar from the French side?

Or is there a more 'legal' and cheaper way to travel to France by car for a week or so?

thanks in advance!

You may find this article in the Guardian written by a barrister relevant.

Summed up, if you buy a day return ticket with the intention of using it as a one way ticket, you owe them the extra (although they are not allowed to charge it to your credit card), AND you could be charged with deception under the Theft Act.

If your car really did break down (which would be fairly easy to demonstrate to the ferry company), the charge would be unfair.

Cheers for that, btw went with speedferries.com - £19 going to France and £29 coming back so £48 in total. This was for 2 one ways, however, with same dates but as a return the charge was £58!!!

Does anybody know how Eurotunnel pick up on the fact that you haven't returned?

You have a reservation. You haven't checked in, therefore you haven't returned.

Sorry why would it be 'unfair'? You breaking down is hardly their fault. And (a bit tongue in cheek.....) isn't it you being unfair to them by having a badly maintained car?
