DIY parking sensor kits

Thanks, I'll look into those kits.0

If it was me, I'd put the reversing led unit in the roof at the rear so that I can see it when I turn my head and reverse.0

What I'm after is recommendations from anyone that's either had one fitted or done it themselves.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

It's quite easy to reverse without turning your head through 180 degrees to look out of the rear window, HGV drivers do it all day long using nothing more than their mirrors and the gift of spacial awareness.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car

I've driven an HGV. When I reversed, I looked in the mirrors, not at the dash. In any case, if I had been able to see directly behind me, that is where I would have been looking.0

I knew the pointless posts would start eventually, just surprised it took14 posts to get there. My wife can't judge the rear of the car very easily and it would be far more MSE to spend £30-40 on a sensor kit, rather than have her punch holes in the bumpers of other cars with the tow bar. I fitted a wired kit to our old Discovery and she's been very happy using it, hence I'm asking for opinions based on experience from people who've used the wireless kits.
And it'll also help prevent a small child with a basket of kittens walking behind the car without being noticed.0 -
Thanks but fitting isn't the issue, I have no problem with working on cars. What I'm after is recommendations from anyone that's either had one fitted or done it themselves.
I fitted a kit myself to a vectra, the kit was from ebay, the same as this one but I don't think I got it from this seller....

It was really easy to fit using the supplied drill bit and just connected to the reversing light for power. No running cables the length of the car.
It gives a long beep when you put the car in reverse to show it's working, then short beeps which become more frequent as you get closer to an object, eventually turning to a continuous beep when your very close.
It took about an hour and a half to fit, I got the colour that matches the car but they can also be painted if they don't do the matching colour.0 -
Thanks for that - it's been reliable I take it?0

I've ordered the electromagnetic type which don't need holes drilling. I'm still waiting for them to come from Hong Kong but I thought I'd give them a go for less than a tenner on eBay. The write ups don't seem too bad.0
