any ideas on where to get reasonably priced 3d frames

Options
I want to make some of those 3d frame/boxes with the butterflies or hearts cut out of fancy paper or print and then creased and pasted on in lines or shapes. not a great description but I hope you get the idea. only problem is that I have tried to find even the mdf frames/boxes and they are working out at £6 or £7 for a small 5x5 one and then p&p on top.

I have looked on etsy and ebay and given the prices being charged it looks like they are available a lot cheaper than I have been able to find.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a more reasonable source, thanks.

  • You could make one yourself, the instructions are freely available and there may even be a UTube video too!!
  • tending to be a bit lazy at the minute so really just want to buy the frame. I suppose I could buy an old one with some silly picture in it and just change it for what I want to do.

I got this one yesterday from Ikea. It's approx 9 x 9 and cost £3.50. Hope you have an Ikea close to you.

yes i have one about 15 miles away, will maybe go soon
  • Try your local charity shops for frames, they will be really cheap.....
  • Also try Wilkinsons. I bought some from them a while back, from very big frames to house my daughters circle of flowers which she wore at her wedding, right down to a small one which was for a single photo teamed with a paper rose.

They were all unfinished pine, so you could paint them to suit your needs.
Remember: however thin you slice something, there are always two sides to everything.

  • I picked up a very nice one in a Charity shop recently. A bargain. But I have in the past used ordinary frames (that I already had) by adding extra wood behind.
