Peugeot 207 Fault!!

Hi All

need help on a longstanding 207 issue which has been plaguing me for a year. Model is 207 DIESEL HATCHBACK 1.4 HDi S 5dr [AC] 2008 and started losing power and displaying anti-pollution fault and low oil pressure warning on display. I then have to stop the car and re-start it, this normally happens without issue.
This can happen at any speed and when it's idling, there are no warning signs and no commonalities which cause it to happen that i have seen.
It has been in the Peugeot dealership 3 times over the last year and the faults are not registering on the computer and the dealership say there is nothing they can do.
I have also contacted Peugeot directly who to be quite honest have sided with the dealership and are not prepared to do anything more.
The car has now developed another fault in that on occasion the car will not start with the first turn over of the engine.
I'm really at a loss as what to do next, its a good car and i can't really afford another, but surely Peugeot must be able to resolve this issue?

any advice gratefully received! :T

Could this be a dpf issue? A bit too obvious though as a dealer would have checked this.
  • Hi
If you mean the pollen filter ? They assure me they have checked that but also given it a full mechanical check too!
    Any other ideas?

If the computer says there are no faults most " mechanics" these days won't have a clue where to start and if they do try they will start by changing the most expensive parts first.
After a quick look on the Peugeot forums the following seem to cause problems without leaving a code for them to read, the EGR valve sticking, manifold temp sensor, crank position sensor or as Jim says a DPF issue.
You will probably get better help from one of the Peugeot forums.
  • Thanks, I have been on the forums and there have been many posts with the same issues but only a few have been resolved, normally relating to the fuse box or the pollen filter, but again Peugeot have assured me they have checked!

  • I had what sounds like the same problem but with a mark 3 clio. Some sort of pollution light would flash intermittently and the car would suddenly lose power. Dealer couldn't find fault code and initially thought it was the spark plugs, that didn't fix it so I left it with them until they could after going back and forth for a while. They could see I was getting frustrated and literally said leave the car here til we've figured it out as they made the car. I pushed on the fact that I could be pulling onto a motorway and the car could suddenly drop down to 20mph... And in the end they did. Turned out to be a problem with the exhaust system, would have cost over £1k if I'd paid for it so not a cheap job at all. Haggled in a free service and mot too.
An opinion is just that..... An opinion
  • Thanks for the advice, over the last year they have had the car for 3 separate full weeks - I don't want to be rude with them, but surely they are the experts?

Again- sounds like dpf. (nothing to do with a pollen filter, but a sure fire way to stop your car if it has not been driven in the correct manner, ie lots of short journeys in a diesel.-

A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.

Ask someone if there's any chance it's the glow plugs. Same happened to mine and it was glow plugs when the main dealer said it was the egr valve and would cost over £300. Glow plugs £96 and no trouble since.
