Ceiling electrics question

Hi,
I noticed one light was not coming on in my kitchen ceiling lights - the type that are recessed into the ceiling itself and held in place with a circular piece of wire - I forget the name...
I've tried two bulbs assuming the first replacement was a dud but no joy.
The bulbs are GU5.3 50w.
So it seems that there's something wrong inside the fitting I suppose.
How might I fix this? I know nothing about electrics...

Then with all due respect, you need to call a sparky who does know about electrics (like me). Not worth your life messing about with stuff you don't know about or understand.
Is there just 1 switch for that light? Could be failed switch or loose wire or any number if things but no-one can tell you over the internet - it needs hands-on.0 -
I thought I might need to but I thought there might perhaps be something simple I was overlooking...
Yes just one light switch but the other ones in the ceiling are fine.
I've tried one of the bulbs from the other lights on the ceiling and they didn't work in that partiuclar light so it's certainly not the bulb itself that's the issue, it's definitely something to do with the fitting.0 -
I suspect that it is the transformer that has failed - it sits in the ceiling above the light0

The GU5.3 lamps would be 12V bulbs, fed from a transformer. If swapping the lamp doesn't fix it, then there's a fair chance the transformer has failed. Alternatively, a wire has overheated and failed. The transformer is probably tucked into the ceiling void somewhere. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
