Transfering current account & credit card application

Hi there,
Since the credit card application takes a while, I was thinking of applying for an EGG Green card now.
However I am going to transfer my current account to probably A&L. Could that be negativ on my history, if the credit card people check my current account and see that the current account doesn't exist anymore and is already transferred to another bank? Does it look me unreliable und unworthy for a credit card?
Cheers

Don't close the old current account. Just keep a few quid in it and keep it open. Problem solved.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Well A&L says if you transfer everything to them (Current account and so) you get 50,-
Thats a pitty to loose though.

I've recently transferred to A&L but I've kept my old current account open.
You do not need to close your old current account - don't do this.
The bonus is for £25 - opening new account, further £25 for taking out an A&L credit card AT THE SAME TIME as you open the current account.
Keep your old account open and then you can legitimately say you have had your bank account for x number of years - helps the credit rating.
Hope this helps. If it was easy, everyone would do it!0 -

Works for me. I recently transferred from LloydsTSB to First Direct and kept my Lloyds account open.
It looks a lot better on cc applications to say you have been with your bank for 16 years rather than only 2 months
cheers
PeteDebt-free as of 01.10.08. I will never have a CC again and I'm "in the black" :beer:0 -
hehe Ok its kind of embarrassing now...but I came just recently to the UK branch in London. I have never been before in UK and so didn't have any bank accounts.
My HSBC is really just two months old. ;o) So what do you think now? Shall I still switch completely to A&L and close HSBC?
The thing is I am really interested in Citibank VISA Platinum card with 1% cashback. I would like to apply for it, but am also affraid, that while I am switching to A&L and closing HSBC, they would think I am not serious about it. Maybe I shoudl apply after I switched to A&L?
cheers
