Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

Indeed KC, been in the office today, quite a busy one with back to back meetings.
Head all over the place, just had my third coahing session and she asked me lots of difficult questions :rotfl: SO conflicted about work and the future right now, not going to go into detail here but I've got decisions to make and not enough info available and I keep changing my mind - thinj I've said something every time I've spoken to the coach:rotfl:
This is all bound up with moving too - if we weren't moving (and therefore didn't need a mortgage) I might make very different decisions. Mr Cheery says he's happy to stay where we are but I think wr both really want to go now so that affects things.
Just not sure how to go about making decisions, and some of them are time limited or affect other things.
Coach woman suggested mapping out every decision and what my options are and what I need to know and which decisions affect others so I'm going to do that tonight in the hope things will become a bit clearer...:rotfl:

Came home exhausted and Mr Cheery had spent half the day packing clothes and the rest fitting the new shower (HOORAY! :j :j :j ) so I confess we had a takeaway and I have remained motionless in front of the tv for two hours
Going into the office again tomorrow, and Thursday, and I think three days in a row will neatly illustrate why I can't do it FOUR days in a row long term...
Showing great reluctance to actually get on with writing this job formStupid really, it's an ace job and perfect for me
But somehow writing everything down is so *hard*
Don't have the option of leaving it to the last minute though - I'm going away 5 days before the closing date, and several people have offered to look at it for me, so I need to get it to them before this weekend really, so they've got chance to comment, and I've got chance to make changes. And I'm out at work for 12 hours tomorrow and Thursday, and going straight out both evenings too! Aarrgghh!
So that's basically just tonight and Friday then
Brought home a list of all the courses I've ever done in this job so at least I can make a start on that!0 -
Fingers crossed you get that application nailed maybe using a timer would help? It use to help me on my phd just set it for 15 mins cos we can do anything in 15 mins right?
seriously good luck with it.
PS YAY for showers.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Pips is right you know! - 15 minutes to tackle all those horrid things we don't want to face!:D
Cheering you on from the sidelines - your application will be the perfectous perfect that you can make it!:j:j:j
...and AMEN to a good shower & hot water - nothing like a steamy room & great smelling bath products to make the day a better one!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Thank you, you lovely pair!
We can indeed do anything for 15 minutes:j :j That's going to be my motto for today :j :j
So far mind you I've spent nearly 2 hours doing nothing at all other than wandering round the internet (oh, and I swept the kitchen floor and had some breakfast) But nothing else!
Been fretting that we wouldn't manage with a mortgage - after all I only managed to find £50 to put in the savings account this month and a mortgage will be FAR more than that! But then I guess priorities will change - at the minute we're spending on house maintenance and titivating etc which we wouldn't normally.
I suppose I'm just not very good at sticking to a budget
But I'm going to get back on track in September to prove to myself that I CAN do it! The bank reckons I could pay £600 a month on a mortgage on current salary and spending habits  Where on earth does that go?! (Well, having done YNAB since last November I could probably tell you exactly where it went... )
Anyway - today :j :j A wee pippi-like list :j
- shower
- put clothes away out of bathroom
- ring nice old lady round the corner for a cuppa
- JOB APPLICATION FORM - finish and send to people to read
Those are the necessary things
Other things that need doing over the weekend
- prepare for conferency thing next week - washing, sort out car to sleep in
- prepare workshop for conferency thing - reply to emails, sort out interviews etc
- buy phone charger that actually works!
- spend half an hour doing some willow-lopping
- pack a couple more boxes
- sort out PhD references  I want to print it off properly, but realised I'd missed a load of the references out  so want to sort that out before I print it
- bit of exercise - maybe parkrun tomorrow and a yoga class :j
That's probably quite enough for one weekend0 -
Transferred £50 to savings and updated signature :j
Trying to tell myself this is just an unusually spendy month - Mr Cheery's crown at the dentist (£241), MOT (I've allocated £200), joining professional association for (potential) new job (£120), course (£60), - normally most of that would go to savings (or mortgage...)
Still feeling a bit gloomy about it though
Probably not helping myself - haven't taken lunch to work at all this week  Went out for away day lunch (£11.50) on Tuesday, Wednesday work paid for my lunchbut I still bought snacks at the station, and yesterday I spent nearly £5 on sandwich etc  That's knocking on for £20 just on lunch in a week!
Need to send Mr Cheery shopping - he economises buy going less often, but then we've got no fruit, no yogurt, no bread, no cheese and I end up buying lunch and snacks at work so it's not economising at all!
Anyway, enough pondering - time for a shower0 -
Well I'm not going to win any MSE awards - just come up into the attic and I'd left the electric heater on - I've not been up here since last Monday so it's been on for days
Fortunately it's tiny and doesn't use much energy and is perfectly safe, but even so
Wasn't even that warm :rotfl:0 -
Spendy months are a pain cheery but IT IS unusual.
As for the heater I've been guilty of that before.
Goodluck with the application
Found my thesis the other day, three mistakes in the first page. How could I????Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

It's an awful feeling, isn't it?!
I remember going through my first one that I submitted (which got major corrections...) - I'd actually left an electronic note to my supervisor in the margins at one point :rotfl: No wonder they made me do it again!!
Still not finished job formBut just about to set the timer for another 15 mins and then I'm going to print and let Mr Cheery read it regardless
I actually want to leave the house and see some sunshine today!0 -
Well, here's a thing I haven't done for a long time (just because I'm avoiding my job application
) - an SOA!
We're no way in debt (thank goodness that nastiness is over  ) but I just know I've got a bit complacent and could be saving a LOT more than we are
So... brave face on, here goes...

These numbers aren't guesses - I've been using YNAB religiously for the last 10 months (since November, so including Christmas) - so I've just done reports for all the individual categories and divided by the number of months.
Should point out I haven't included Mr Cheery's income - he's self employed and paid mostly in cash (declared, of course!) - he pays for the main food shopping and his own personal spends. We're both more than happy with this arrangement!I've got a particularly good deal being half owner of a house he's spent the last 25 years paying the mortgage off
Just posting for now and I'll have a think about what I want to do about it in a bit  :rotfl: Pretty sure we're really extravagant in quite a lot of areas! :eek:0
