switching to raw for cats.

I want to switch my cats to a raw diet using felini complete powder, but whats tge best food to encourage them? I tried minced beef, but neither really liked it, then i tried braising steak, which my little man loved, but its a bit pricey. What might they like hats going to save me money?

  • My cat is partial to minced lamb, but absolutely loves raw chicken. Try giving it in small amount mixed with or next to his usual food, and he will hopefully get used to the taste. I hope the switch goes well for you. :)
  • we have 3 cats. one of them will eat raw mince, chicken, beef, lamb. She also loves cooked fish, I buy the fix pie mix from Aldi. The other 2 cats won't eat anything raw, but one of them will also eat cooked fish. They will all eat cooked ham and cooked chicken sandwich meat and we like to mix days, some days giving them wet cat food, some days dry cat food (the cheapest option), some days we mix raw meat or cooked fish with the dry food.

Try a few different things till you find what goes down best. Good luck.
I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea

    My gang all love pork.
They eat a lot of pork kidney, and also pork shoulder which most supermarkets sell quite cheaply as steaks.

Mine hated mince, just turned their noses up at it but they do enjoy chicken wings!

    What is felini complete powder?
It is a very expensive, albeit convenient, additive for raw meat to make it a complete/balanced cat food.
My gang don't like it but I know many others who do feed it successfully.
  • It's not that expensive, its about 8p a serving, and it saves having to research and source all the fiddly bits you need to add to make a complete cat diet.
Thanks, I'll try those meat suggestions. :-)

If you give chicken, do you give the skin or add anything to it, like heart or extra fat? Would turkey be ok, its very low in fat so I'm wondering.
And all pork must be cooked mustn't it?
  • With the chicken I feed (as treats, in addition to their NI raw food breakfast and dinner), I just defrost a wing each and leave it out whole for them.

The fish I feed (again in addition to their main meals as treats) is just white fillet fish that has the bloodline still there, cut up in to little pieces for them.

With the NI food they have turkey and pork raw and I haven't had any problems with worms or anything. They LOVE their turkey and pork Christmas special NI meals!
