Natwest - Default - DM Plan

Options
Hi All,

Just looking for some advice or thoughts on below:

I started stuggling with my debts in 2009/2010 and diecided to start a DMP Natwest is who I had a bank account with and a loan so that was included. I checked my credit file yesterday and Natwest have both logged defaults against me (which I expected) but the dates are different Natwest loan 30/11/2010 Natwest acc 31/01/2010 I know it's only 10 months but it's just even longer to wait for the six years are up! So I am just thinking ;
1. Should they not be the same date?
2. Why was there such a long wait ?
3. Can I write to Natwest asking them to change to date?
If so does anyone have a template letter or know of?

Come to think about it I'm sure I received the default letters at the same time.

Also they knew I was in a debt plan as there where happily accepting my payment every month so why have they taken so long?
Is there a legal time scale they should stick to?

Thank you

  • Hi

    Guidelines for issuing defaults:

There is a section on DMPs.

It depends how much less than the contracted payment you were making and whether that changed significantly at the time they defaulted you.

Best read these then just write to them requesting the default date is changed to within 6 months of the DMP start. No template needed.

  • Hi ,

Thanks for that ... Loan was £222 a month was paying back £140 on DMP.

    Thanks
  • I thought I would send Natwest a letter regarding the above.. I came home today to find a letter apologising for there mistake and saying they will change the date of the default and a £75 cheque I assume this is a apology gesture ... Now I am thinking have my other debts defaulted me on the right dates mmmmhhhh
