Old style daily Sunday 26th January This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still dark, wet underfoot after the awful storm and rain we had yesterday afternoon.
DH and I up and enjoying a peaceful cuppa. Boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, new potatoes and veg - was lovely and I'm really pleased that I bothered to make the effort to prep the casserole and put it all in the slow cooker before going to work yesterday morning - work was ok and I got home with enough time to eat my salad, get washed and changed and go back out the door to the caravan meeting. Met loads of people and was an enjoyable way to spend a wintry wet afternoon. We got diverted on the way home as the storm had brought a tree down over the road - hope no-one got hurt, lots of homes lost power and got hit by lightening etc. We have been lucky and didn't loose power this time. (We usually do!)
Today we will be having roast chicken with all the trimmings for lunch - I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost. We need to visit the outlaws etc this morning so will pre-set the oven timer so we're not eating too late this afternoon. Have been given a bag of mixed apples, eaters and cookers, so will prep them and make a crumble, that can be eaten after lunch or later for those that have room.
We tried the cake that I made that I thought looked dry - it wasn't anywhere near as dry as I'd thought and was perfectly ok to eat on its own - DH asked if I can tweak the recipe a bit as he thinks it might taste nice with ginger kick so next time will alter it and see how it tastes!
Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All x
DH left for the week yesterday morning, I had a friend over last night... She got a bit drunk while I ate chocolate... I didn't make it to bed until 1.15am and the children woke me at 6.10am!!
Today I need to make 1 loaf of bread and tidy up a bit. We're going to my mums mid afternoon as she lives near DS dads. I can the feed the girls and get them ready for bed before collecting DS and bringing them home
Might need a coffee to get me through... And I NEVER drink the stuff so it might just work
Hope you all have a nice day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Good Morning
No rain or wind here at the moment but its meant to come. Had a little storm here yesterday which then caused a power cut for over 2 hours. Had to get a take-away for dinner so will be having steak tonight.
Got all the concrete/patios cleaned in the garden yesterday :j they were totally green and very slippery. OH blasted them with the power wash and I then scrubbed them with a diluted bleach solution, hopefully that will hold off the algae for a while.
Todays plans - this morning going to the shops as need 2 pairs of work trousers. Once home will spend an hour or so in the office then a couple of hours ironing (couldn't do it yesterday without power).
Very excited about work monday but haven't done a 9-5 shift for a long time - must remember to sort out a packed lunch too.
Have a great day.x0 -
Morning All
Essex-girl - Good luck for tomorrow, sounds like you enjoy your job and like you say, it gets you out of the house.
JG - Hope the day isn't too long!
Decided to do something in the house yesterday so stripped the kitchen table (it was free) so sanded and varnished the top including the 2 leaves which remain a slightly darker colour. I have to say it is looking really good and will take the top off to do the legs and frame today and hopefully that will be dry to put the final coat of varnish on the top tonight so it can dry overnight. Also started to strip one of the chairs but they are going to be a long, long job!
Had haggis last night which was very tasty, always think it's going to be a dry meal but it was lovely.
The weather is awful again, very wet and very windy so will try to stay indoors today. Washing will go on the airers and DW will go on when DD has had her breakfast.
Have a good Sunday all. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Dry here at the moment but rain is forecast. DS2 has his first driving lesson this morning so I hope it doesn't rain too hard.
WM is on, getting a bit fed up with drying stuff indoors and can't wait for some breezy, sunny days to line dry it.
Went out again looking for a car for DH but he still can't find anything he likes or is suitable in the price range. Popped in to see some friends which was nice, although she is quite ill with a degenerative illness
DH is on dinner duty today. Meatballs and pasta I think.
Enjoy your Sunday0 -
Good morning all,
It has finally stopped raining. Not sure if we are due anymore today.
The girls want to go into town today so either myself or hubby will drop them off.
Wm is on. Just finished making the custard for trifle, jelly is in the fridge. I took everything out of the food cupboard and gave the shelves a clean and have put everything back neatly. Hence that's why i am making a trifle, i found two boxes in there that my Mum gave me a while ago. I have some tinned fruit dated bbe Dec 13, will they still be ok?
Roast lamb with potatoes and vegetables for dinner. Should be enough lamb leftover for a curry for Monday or during the week.
Essex-girl, good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.
busiscoming2, I hope your sons driving lesson goes ok.

Roll on the spring. My cold is hanging around a bit I'm hoping it will go this week as I am fed up of being bunged up and sniffly.
<<Hugs to those in need>> Have a good one what ever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning all,
Pouring with rain here too looks like its set in for the day. A day indoors for me I think, will do some more painting then have a lazy afternoon.
Got our bedding in the wm which will have to go on the airer along with everything else !
Dinner tonight will be a turkey breast I got on offer, I think I will do garlic cubed potatoes and some roasted veg with it, we will have a roast during the week and invite mum, so don't want another one today.
DD will be home later on today, I hope its not too late as this weather is only going to get worse.
Essex girl, what is the new job ? good luck for tomorrow xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Had a much better sleep last night ( a luxurious 6 hours!) as my very kind neighbour kept DD all night so I could take a sleeping tablet. As a result I am feeling a bit better but wary of doing too much today so going to rest up again.
Weather here is awful. Cold and very rainy. Snow forecast for later today but looks like it will be wet snow. My mum and dad live 20 miles away from us and they have the snow already.
Have hoovered my bedroom and the landing. Going to potter about whilst watching the tennis this morning then maybe a movie this afternoon
Hugs and well wishes to anyone who wants or needs them x0
