I currently have a catalaogue account with 24 Studio and 3 Mobile contracts with Vodafone.
When applying for these accounts i made myself older than i actually was. Wrong yes i know deceitful yes, but i did it anyway.
I was wondering if when I turn 18 or 19 would I be able to phone these companies and tell them I've noticed that my D.O.B on file is incorrect and if they could amend it for me, as when I turn 18 I don't want conflicting information on my credit file.
I know lying about my age is classed as fraud but everything is paid up to date and is staying that way, I have no intention of doing a 'bunk' it was a cheaper and more flexible solution!
Any advice greatly appreciated! :j

You have no rights until you know about them.:)

Or they could close the accounts and put a fraud marker on your file.
Rather silly of them not to check your DOB.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I suppose so, but then they'd lose a customer and their interest. And I'm also sure they wouldn't want to admit to neglect on their part either.
And they should also do more to confirm age someone I know got a 400 pound wonga loan closed their account and opened another, They were only 16! Me myself couldn't imagine doing that and ending up with them hounding me for god knows how much and also ruining my rating before 18You have no rights until you know about them.:)0 -
Check what it shows on your credit file.
If your DOB is correct and their are no linked financial associations, then it's probably ok.
DOB is only shown on my personal details section, not per account.:beer:0 -
Phoned up all of the credit providers and played dumb as to why my DOB was 3 years higher than it actually was and every single one of them has changed it so it reflects my actual date of birthYou have no rights until you know about them.:)0

So now you have accounts that are actually registered with you being underage?
It isn't neglect on behalf of the companies either. The credit check done by their systems always has a margin of error. In relation to the correspondence between the systems and the cra's. I saw it when I worked for Orange.
I am sure you will also have signed something to say all of the info was correct. What used to happen when. I worked for Orange is, if we found out before the person turned 18, either the account was closed with a fraud marker put on their file or we would transfer the account into someone else's name, subject to eligibility etc. if the person had turned 18 and had made a payment after their 18th birthday, they became liable.
Whichever way you look at it, you habe knowingly commited fraud and you should be very careful.0 -
I am surprised that the phone and catalogue accounts were set up with a fake D.O.B. They would surely need the name to match up with the D.O.B. So it's strange that it went ahead.
Is there really any need to say anything to them if you're 18 soon?
Where and how are you able to access your own D.O.B on your accounts with them?
I don't know what to say. I have never come across anything like this before. No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j
