Toyota Yaris rear view camera - views?

I have just bought a Toyota Yaris with a rear view camera. It's early days, but I'm not sure that I trust it and wonder if I would rather have my parking "beeper" that I had fitted to my old Honda.
What are the opinions of those of you that have these marvels of technology? How long did it take for you to get used to it? Should I get a beeper fitted as well, as a backup?
Other than that, I am very pleased with my purchase.

If you can see the distance why do you need a beeper? Just fiiting a beeper maybe a bigger job than you think. No sensors fitted i presume.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Why don't you trust a rear facing camera?
Why would you need a back up?!0 -
give it some time you'll get used to it. everyone has problems getting the distance right when reversing on a new car.0

I'm struggling to believe that anyone needs assistance reversing a Yaris......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Those cars are only about 3 feet long anyway aren't they?0

What is the issue with the camera? Are you worried the field of view is too narrow, or just that you have trouble judging how far away you are from something? If it's the latter could you perhaps spend a bit of time practicising experimenting reversing up to things somewhere quiet, so that you could reverse in stages and get out to see how close you actually are each time to get used to what the camera is showing you?0

I just got a new yaris on Monday night with the camera installed. I've used it a few times and I've had no problems, I've certainly no need to get beepers.0

What's wrong with the mirrors? <mutter, grumble, luddite>0

I wouldn't trust either there a tool in addition to proper observation not a replacement.Lucy_Lastic wrote: »I have just bought a Toyota Yaris with a rear view camera. On the Yaris they make everything look massive and intimidating, I swear it's why Yaris drivers are often painfully slow and complain about tailgaters. They make the driver uncomfortable, they drive slow, people drive too close, they get even more intimidated and it becomes a vicious circle.
Horrible cars to drive (IMHO).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
