Buying car from a non local dealer

If I were to buy a car from a dealer that was quite a distance away and something goes wrong. Could I get said problem fixed at my local dealer. So if a problem does arise, should I be contacting the dealer I bought the car from and they then inform my local dealer. Or does it work differently?

Manufacturers warranty? Or a used car from a chain with a local depot?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

That's exactly how it works with a manufacturers warranty on most makes, if you buy from a Ford from a Ford dealer for example.
You should then be able to go to any Ford dealer - but on occasion they may have to refer back to the selling dealer for authorisation.
That's the benefit of buying from an approved Ford dealer - even though the price is usually a bit higher than if you bought the car from Arthur Daly down the road.
Not knowing what marque you're considering buying I can't guarantee that though.
Certainly the BMW I bought last year can be fixed at any BMW dealer throughout Europe.0
