Clippy's clear final debt and pay for holiday diary

Hello all,

I have a habbit of starting diarys and giving up but i promise to stick to this one ;)

so i am on the last part of my journey with just £2950 to clear :j this is because i decided i did not want to go on holiday again whilst still paying for the last one as its a cycle i have been stuck in for the last few years :o so i am not going in march as planned and am instead going in nov. this means the debt will be paid off, holiday will be paid in full and i will have my spending money saved :T:A

so holiday has been booked and am off to india in november with a friend :j:j:j:j

i have started this diary for the next year to cover the below phases until i hope to move to the mfw board-

phase 1- pay off debt by 20 may 2014
phase 2- save up money for holiday by end of oct and also buy new fridge freezer
phase 3- when i am back from holiday redecorate my bedroom. also from nov put away £250pm for next holiday

budget for holiday is £2900 and think this is pretty accurate as includes jabs, malaria tabs, visa, train to airport, cattery and misc holiday medical spends. tour to be paid in aug and flight in sept.

budget for redecorating is £1000 as i need to get my old sash window taken out and a new non sash (:() put in (rest of house is wooden double glazed except this window). was quoted £600 for pvc but will also get quote for wooden to see how much more (tbh once other windows painted white it will match and is back of house anyway). budget for freezer £450 as want stainless steel but will shop around to try and come under this

the above should all be achievable based on paying/saving £650pm.

this is made up of-

£150- left from wages after all bills, saving pots, allocated spends
£340- rent from lodger
£160- to be earnt mystery shopping, ebay, comping, overtime (v rare unfortnately), quidco etc..

need to make sure that 100% of extra income goes towards these goals instead of anything else! plus any extra i earn over the £160 as well :p

have fallen slightly off the wagon diet and finance wise so need to get back on it! :o

  • Well done for jumping back on the debt and fitness wagon. It is so easy to fall off, but in 2014 lets both hang on for dear life and achieve some great goals.

I am confident you will do great!! I'm off to do my audits.

  • What a really encouraging post Clippy. I am so pleased that I am not the only one suffering aches and pains through the pleasures of the gym! It is quite addictive though.

I am giving myself a rest for a couple of days, after getting a wee bit carried away, and then sticking to a balanced plan in February. What is your gym schedule for February looking like?

    morning :)

well from this thursday i am now doing a salsa lesson each week as i bought a voucher for 11 lessons for £19 :) so plan is to try and go to the gym every day except thur and aim for 4 classes and swim on the rest. however already broken this as so busy today not getting a chance! :o how about you? you seem to be getting a lot of free passes

nice pampering day today :) im going out for a meal and drinks today but just realised its at 6pm and hair app booked for 4pm. have a mystery shop booked and dont really fancy going into city in my glad rags at 3pm to do it before hair!

so going to go and do it now and buy an ink cartridge and also see if i can book an app at a benefit counter to get my eyes done up after hair app as will have an hour to kill before dinner and otherwise will end up doing make up in shopping centre toilets as cant really do before hair cut!

then home for lunch, bath and nails. then back in for hair and make up, dinner and drinks :D

not a good start to frugal february but will be fun :p

  • That sounds like a wonderful day to me!

11 lessons for £19.00 is fantastic. I have not paid a penny in January as all the gyms etc are competing for new members, but I am joining an old favourite from today, which will cost me £52.00 a month. To me it is worth it because classes around here cost £7.20 a time, normally, and this centre has a wonderful sauna, Jacuzzi and hydro pool as a bonus.

I plan to go to Body Pump Monday nights, Gym with free personal trainer on Tuesday afternoon, and circuits on Friday night. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday i'll do half an hour on my exercise bike and Sunday will be my day of rest......

Hope you have a wonderful February x.

my gym is a similar price but its only 10 min walk away and also has lovely pool, sauna and steam room (and ice room but im not brave enough for that!). i use it enough to be worth while.

first trip to city yest total waste of time as the shop had closed down i had to mystery shop  hope i still get some fee :(

so lovely day yest but i went a bit mad on the benefit counter and spent £68  that was on 3 products but one was a smokey eye kit. must have had at least 15 products on my face so would have been interesting to know the combined total of everything. got a free toiletries bag which is the size i was planning to buy but couldnt fit it in my teeny bag so getting it next week. had to take the stuff i bought out the boxes!

good night out and home by 12.30 so no hangover.

my cat is not allowed in my room at night and i always throw him out if hes in there when i go bed but hes getting sneaky. he somehow knows when i am going to bed and runs upstairs and hides under the bed so i cant get him! he has done it all week now so i have to wait for him to come out and catch him. he was obviously annoyed last night as he started to play in his litter tray and i could hear him making loads of noise. he managed to flick litter within a 2 meter radius of the tray all over the floor  he then did a big poo which was probably just to spite me (luckily in the tray!).

in money saving news i have managed to use 1/3 less gas in jan than in dec :D also used less electricity as well!

have decided not to do the gym class today as was just an awkward time in the middle of the day. spending the day cooking and cleaning then will go for a swim on way back from mystery shop this evening.

in other money saving i am going to get dads skygo id tonight so i can watch boxsets as he has that package and i dont! will see what is available and how much faff it is plugging my laptop into tv and will consider upgrading as i should get 33% off so about £7 per month i think

    Yay, found you .

Yippee, hope the same goes for me at the weekend - though I note you say 'offer to pay' rather than 'pay' :rotfl:.

Look forward to seeing you on the MFD board later in the year - in the meantime, have you been doing Tilly Tidies :D ?

no tilly tidys as all going to debt :(

great news- mum has just phoned and my grans house has gone up in value so she said I can have £1k which wipes out my debt to her!!!!

so debt is now only £1350 wont quite manage to clear that by end of march but will clear in april with quite a bit of aprils normal payment left over. as i get paid and get rent on 20th then dfd is probably 20th april :T:j

as i am not physically getting £1000 i will just carry on with the plan for fridge freezer/ holiday/ window and bedroom but should then end up with £1k emergency fund by end of year :A

can then start next year by overpaying :A
