Morning paw sniffers
Thanks to this site....well where do I start:)
At risk of repeating myself , it has taught me the value of things as well as the cost. It has enhanced my life with a rich diversity of people....and I don't differentiate between online friends and real life friends....it is all meaningful. I am richer for knowing you all....and not just in monetary terms.....my life in enriched too. Rarely a day goes by when I'm not reduced to either tears of laughter.....or sadness or drawn into a situation where someone needs advice or support...I often feel humbled and blessed.......and I am probably more tolerant as a person than I used to be.

Hmn, trying to debate whether to go back to M&S for more meal deals. Had the millionaire shortbread last night and it was amazing! As is pointed out, we're saving £10 in total so I'm trying to work a way where i'm not over-paying for things (blimey, some of the M&S stuff is overpriced!) to justify it. any suggestions/ thoughts greatly received
One specific question is whether the meal deal will work if I happen to pick up an oakham chicken from the main section (where they might be a bit bigger)? TIA0 -

Fantastic to see a fresh, new name starting of an elite thread, thanks muchly squigs :T:T
I don't think it should matter one jot how much money people have, we are all here driven by a similar goal - to save money and that's a good thing. I still feel that there is a small section in society that is the poorest of the poor that probably would benefit most from sites like MSE but don't own a laptop / computer and or an internet connection to access the wealth of information that could make a huge difference for them
Thanks to this site I have struck up a few of unexpected online 'friendships' - which is a lot more than I have in real life. One in particular is very special:) There is no way I have saved as much money as some of you lot due to me being picky, location, choice of lifestyle etc but that doesn't bother me one bit. It's good to know I'm only a few clicks away from a group of familiar people that will put a smile on my face, make me laugh, or learn something new from. Thanks to all

Lovin the "thanks to this thread" stories, but we need more please!
Thanks to this thread, I haven't used my overdraft for nearly 2 years, after having spent nearly 10 years in it.
I can buy myself nice things that I never, ever thought I'd be able to have. I used to do telephone banking every day to check my balance and work out if I could afford to buy something, something even as simple as the weekly shop
I've been able to take what I've learned from you lot and put it in a little book for my parents, so they can benefit too.
I don't have to choose between gas/electric and food.
Like others, I've found myself with more virtual friends than I've got in RL. When I'm feeling low, you guys pick me up. I can share the highs and lows of my life with y'all
Aww such a lovely story QOC and quite similar to me. I haven't worked for many, many years due to ill health. Never claimed any benefits, so this thread is my lifeline. Thankyou all so much x
Good morning allCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

Good morning everyone. I'm bringing this over from the old thread in case others think it a good idea. Thank you to Cereal Shopper and mhoc for their contributions.
I know I don't chat very much and don't contribute as often as most people, but would it be worth creating a list of useful fillers to go with the burger shop? I just lost 20p on a PP (big deal, I know!!). I'll start it off and see if others pick it up. (I know Savvy's list is more comprehensive but I want to stay simple.)
Useful fillers
First price T, second price M
Twinings Camomile 20 T bags £1.29T £1.00M
Batchelors cup a soup 4 sachet cream of veg with croutons £1.15T £0.57M
E/DAY VAL SKIMMED L/L MLK 1L £0.57 £0.57
LOOSE CLOSED CUP MUSHROOMS 0.049kg £0.13 £0.13
PEARS CONFERENCE CLASS 1 LOOSE 0.144kg £0.28 n/a
BRUSSELS SPROUTS LOOSE CLASS 1 0.052kg £0.13 £0.13
BANANAS LOOSE 176kg £0.12 £0.12
LOOSE BROWN ONIONS CLASS 2 0.122kg £0.11 £0.11
CARROTS LOOSE CLASS 1 0.124kg £0.11 £0.11
LOOSE RED ONIONS CLASS 2 0.1kg £0.09 £0.09
garlic 30p worked though only the 30p appeared in the PP and I had to look at the receipt to see what I bought.
Value garlic bread 34p or 35p - useful freezer filler (mhoc did not say how it compared)
Small loss
Value water 17p - still and sparkling - 18p in Morrisons.
AVOID!
SEASONAL NEW LOOSE POTATOES 0.128kg £0.19 £0.380 -
