  • another local for us is cleveleys they dont have ss.thanks for your help with calibre sorted now.was thinking about you yesterday poured away a nearly full can of menthe sirop bbe 03/12 and if you`d like some aged pineau i think theres 2 bottles in the garage thats a good 7 years old.

    List updated, thanks :T
    Glad to hear you got calibre sorted, HTH:)

    I have family who lived in the Charente region of France, so I picked up a taste for pineau when I was over there a few years ago; it's the perfect aperitif. It does seem to taste better when drunk in France, though, even when it's the same stuff ... strange, that.:D

    Yes, of course! We had our family summer holiday there every year for about fifteen years (I was a tiny baby the first time we went, my sister not even born).
    The Dalmeny (owned by the Webbs, still in the family I believe?)
    http://www.dalmenyhotel.co.uk/en/
    Room 213, up the stairs (the left-hand one) to first floor, and it was first room on the left; my bed was the one in the far corner as you opened the door. It's changed quite a bit since then; we went back for a family holiday (with sister's grown-up kids) a few years ago.
    So many happy memories:):):) - the baby-listening service ('There is a child crying in room XXX', and you could tell which were the parents as they were the ones who had to leave halfway through the meal or disco), met Les Dawson there a few times (think he was a friend of the owners, used to come in the bar for a drink), playing the arcade games on the pier, pitch & putt on the Mini Golf course, walking to Fairhaven Lake, trips to Blackpool to the Pleasure Beach and the Tower (and the genius that was Charlie Cairoli) ... ooh, I could go on and on.
    Thanks for reminding me:D

    Yes the Webbs still own it and the son-in-law has set up the new beach huts on the promenade.

    My brother has the boating lake opposite the Dalmeny and I have the ice cream kiosk next to the lifeboat station there.

    I wonder if I have ever sold you an ice cream???:rotfl::rotfl:

    Thanks hun.

    Yeah, thank god. ;)
    I managed to pry myself out from underneath him to make pizza so we all get fed as well. :D I don't wanna wake him though. Prob I will just put him to bed.

    I would use it as an excuse to do nothing and tell my wife that I have not got anything done as I did not want to wake the little man:o
    Great get out clause:cool::T

    Typical man :eek::rotfl:
    My hubby would defo try to do the same if he had been home alone with lil stink.
    Unfortunately if I wanna eat then I have to get off my butt and cook.
    Homemade pizza is now in my tummy and I can confirm that it was worth the effort ;):T

    []It's difficult to judge tone on here Helen, but 'yet again no-one answers might as well talk to a brick wall' is vastly different from 'I asked but no-one answered'

    There's less judgement in the second statement. Just a stating of the facts :) Enjoy your day :money:[]

    There is a difference - that first one is far funnier:rotfl:.
    So, if one of my questions should go unanswered in the future, I think I'll post about the brick wall and you'll know I don't mean it!!:D
    Ordinarily, though, the first answer is a little ruder (perhaps that's why it's also funnier on other uses of it) but the second is a more polite way of prompting an answer. I don't think people are deliberately ignoring anyone's questions.

    Possibly "I asked but no-one answered:eek:" is different from "I asked but no-one answered:rotfl:", which is different again from "I asked but no-one answered:)" which is different from "I asked but no-one answered:D". (What a social minefield:rotfl::rotfl:!)
