Been using wrong meter since moving in
Moved into our flat last August and at the time the caretaker for the block came round and took meter readings and gave them to us and the letting agency - all perfectly normal.
However, a couple of weeks ago a letter from SSE dropped through the door basically saying 'we think you might be on the wrong meter'. So I looked into it and realised the meter we've been reading from, and the caretaker read from, has a different serial number to that which is on all our bills! I did the putting the kettle and oven on check and, sure enough, this other next to it meter started flashing rapidly.
The meters for the flats are all in a communal cupboard, and of course this has been caused by some clown labelling these 2 meters with the wrong flat numbers!
So what happens now? Our bills for the last few months may have been completely off the mark (although the meter we have been reading from is for an identical flat so can't be TOO bad) and to make matters worse we've changed suppliers during this time.
SSE is closed today but I'll call them on Monday...any ideas?
