Because of problem with my current PC highlighted in another thread and as its 7 years old, looking to replace it.
Anyone any recommendations on best PC to buy or general tips on buying on what to look for.
It will be a home PC but wife does a lot of webwork. Also looking to copy DVDs and probably for new printer and monitor too.
Budget is around £1200.

I'd suggest that, based on your requirements, you'd do well to spend around half that budget and buy the wife a present with the rest0

Yes, as Idiophreak says, that's a generous budget for what your specifying as a basic home PC.
You can get a dual core CPU with 2Gb RAM, Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer, a 19" monitor and printer for about £600. Check Dell for off the shelf and Komplett if you want a custom build.0 -
Used Komplett for my current PC and was very happy. I've also used Novatech in the past but when I bought my current machine they seemed less competitive.
For standard machines you could also have a look at Dell, particularly the outlet, https://www.dmxdimension.com
What exactly do you mean by webwork? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Dont spend £1200 on a pc.. not worth it.. As others have said spend half that amount but DO NOT buy from PC World etc..
Try www.aria.co.uk.. You can spec the pc yourself online and they have excellent back-up..
Otherwise get it custom built... Goodluck0 -
Unless you're wanting a goodish games machine you don't need to spend 1/2 that price.0
