No, believe me it won't be worth it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. ^This.
There are loads of classified ad sites. Some very popular ones for all areas, no doubt some popular local ones, and there are hundreds of barely used and unheard of sites out there.
Then the same goes for general selling sites. There are ones everyone uses and knows of (e.g. ebay/amazon), a few less popular ones (e.g. ebid) and there are those that have never got anywhere and remain unheard of.
All the time people are setting up similar sites.
It may be free for people to use, but the site is going to cost you to run. How are you planning on making anything from this to keep the site going?0 -
I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a real winner of an idea- not just the 'free listing' and an out of the box 'ebay lite' site- ebid fits that niche well already. I want a truly unique site that will attract buyers as well as sellers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Setting up your own site is a lot harder than using a 3rd party site. The time you spend marketing won't justify the cost unless you plan to take it seriously and turn this into a business.0

At the moment they appear to be going for cost free marketing through here lol. They don't appear to have any way of making money from the site so even without marketing costs their running it at a loss.0 -

Starting from scratch, even with limitless funds, is a very difficult task.
Only something that could grow organically is likely to work, either that or a consortium of several high street names joining together. Largely speaking the only people that are disgruntled with Ebay and Amazon to want another site are sellers, their buyers are mostly happy buying from them..0 -
Thank you for the feed back everyone, all taken on board x0
