Are they canvas? If they are, I would have thought it would be possible to dye them but you will need to take all the beans out first which is going to be a messy job. And if you do it in the washing machine, make sure you have got rid of every single bean which might be sticking to the fabric - I don't know what they would do to the insides of the washing machine but its not likely to be good! Black is more likely to work than white, but watch out for dye transferring to clothes/carpet when you sit on them.

I have rarely found home dyeing completely "fixes" - it's fine for a lot of stuff, but for things you are going to sprawl on, I wouldn't!
Also home dyeing isn't cheap. Far better IMHO to head for your local market, or look on fabricland or fabricuk for really cheap fabric (fabricuk has beanbag fabric at £5 a metre - 150cm wide +p&p)
I have made new covers in the past and simply shove the old bag inside, no emptying out beans!

Dyes cost a bomb to do 'right' - you always need more packets than you imagine or you get washed out colours. And that's on perfect fabric - synthetics may not take the colour at all.

+1 for making a cover - just make a rectangle of black big enough to fit the existing bag and stuff it in.

up till the 1900s pink used to be a male colour and the word gay just meant happy! Check out the lyrics of its a long way to Tipperary especially if you are from London!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Have you looked at a box of Dylon in wash dye, it will cost approx. £5 you will also need salt to fix the dye, each box will dye 1kg of fabric(I'm always surprised by how much fabric weighs, you may need 2 or 3 packs). It will depend on the type of fabric on how well the dye is taken up. It could be a bit of a costly gamble and you may also be disappointed with the finished result(Black can come out grey if you haven't got enough dye). My advice would be to get some cheap fabric(try a market) and make some new covers(use the pink beanbags to make a pattern), or see how much a local dressmaker will charge, or keep looking for some cheap new beanbags.(try I wanna buy-it or do-it section of moneysaving expert)

Depending on their size ..... I once stuck an old bean bag into a duvet cover from a "cot" size duvet. Fortunately it was plain blue and didn't have little teddies all over it. Or you may be able to find a single duvet cover at the charity shop and do a bit of sewing ??
