faulty and non-new sold as new exercise bike

I bought an exercise bike online, got to the end of assembling it when realised there is a mechanical fault, and the seat section does not fit. Plus the bike chassis has been marked by a pen and scuffed, looks like a previous owner has marked a seat setting on it. Bought direct from manufacturer and it is meant to be new item. They refused to collect item on first floor said I would have to move it downstairs myself, I explained the difficulty I would have with the weight and size but they still flatly refused saying all returns must be collected from ground floor. I've currently agreed to a repair here but I have insisted on it being fully assembled and left fully functional by engineer. However, I have not been offered any compensation for anything. The bike was delivered 1day ago so I guess I am still in my 7 Day cooling off period. Should I really be expecting the bike swapped for a brand new one? If not, what is the reasonable time for repair? What about the 1st floor issue if they are collecting?

I just want a working bike! I did a lot of research and I can't find another type of bike I'd want at the price I paid otherwise I'd just want a refund. I'd prefer a completely new bike in replacement but it took 3 hours to build and I'm not happy spending hours unscrewing it all, and then have to do that all again on a replacement. If it's just the seat section that's faulty then a repair of that is fine but they are talking about a couple of weeks to do that and may be longer, it only took 4 days to deliver a complete new one from order. Then there is the marked chassis and also I wonder why the bike was returned before apart from already indentified faults.0

Are you in a first floor flat, or is it your own house?
They offered to collect it from you, but you refused, so their next offer was for a repair.
For a collection, they would send a courier round, not a member of staff, etc. who would be there to pick up the box, not to disassemble it.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I didn't refuse collection, they refused to collect from 1st floor bedroom. They said I had to take it downstairs which is very difficult for me.0

You want a working bike, they've offered to send somebody round to repair it on site. So what's the problem? Isn't this basically what you want?0
