Overcharged £39 by SportsDirect.com, reclaim with Chargeback?

I make an online purchase from SportsDirect.com in November 2013 with a pre-order item that eventually was cancelled from the order as Sports Direct couldn't fulfil it.

The original order was for £55 and £16 worth was attempted to be delivered (inc delivery). Once i knew the main item wasn't coming, i tried to cancel the order but it was already with the courier so I refused delivery as advised by Sports Direct and waited for the refund.

On 28/12 the £55 was charged to my MasterCard and about a week later a refund of £16 was received (the value of the goods actually received, rather that what they charged me). Seems like a very dodgy way of processing payments to me!

I've contacted them several times but am now getting no replies by email whereas I did at the start of the process.

Is my next step to contact my credit card company about the Chargeback procedure? I've used this successfully before, albeit on a £250 transaction, and am hopeful that this will work again unless Sports Direct go into administration before (seen a few of those stickers in their stores before!).

Thanks for any help,

Nick
Cheers,

Nick

Sports Direct are probably one of the least likely to go into admin on the high street today. Its all marketing bumph.

Ask your CC for a chargeback, its below the normal amount, but there is no harm in trying.

Alternatively ring them to discuss your situation.

Errrrr... how about contacting sports direct using a phone (not through email) and pointing out their error?
