I have never filled a pinata before and my daughter would like one for her birthday party,it's only a small party and the pinata she likes says it holds 900 grams of candies.
What is the most cost effective way of filling it? Sorry if it is a stupid question but as i say i have never done it before so for those that have what do you put in yours and how much will it roughly cost?
Thanks in advance.

We only did one once, but have been to a few parties with them. Remember you don't have to fill it up. Think about where you are doing it, do the sweets need to be wrapped. Also you could have other bits in It, girls love hair grips and bobbles, rubbers etc.
Please try and make them share it out, we went to one party where a few forceful kids hot most of it, some got a couple of things and dome ended up with nothing.0 -
Thank you,i suppose i answered my own question a bit with the 900 grams of candy,i had a look around and it's not as costly as i thought,it would be nice to have other bits in there too though so i will see what i can find.
It will definitely be shared out,i think it would be awful to have some children getting lots and others getting very little or even nothing, they can bash it for fun but it will be made very clear that what is inside is to be shared out equally.0 -
Pound shops are great for pinata sweets. I was looking at the sweets today in poundland.
Go for the big bags which have individual items in them like 20 lollipops or 10 maoam sticks.
Packets of haribo and popping candy are great 'bulk' items (cheap, but take up space). Maybe add some packets of biscuits.0 -

I handmade 3 pinatas last year and I wouldn't say I made any of them strong (as they would not have broken easily lol), and was really surprised by the weight they could hold, they were hung up throughout each of the parties and walloped at the end, started of with a jokey mallet like a tube from wrapping paper - to make the game last a bit longer, then brought out the baseball bat for the birthday person after everyone had had a goAlthough I made a Moshi Cleo one that had ribbons under for each of them to pull out as a go.
I also added in some hair things, and spider/skeleton things for the Halloween one, just in case some people didn't want their kid having a ton of the choc eyeballs and gruesome sweetsHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. If you're looking for something else to fill the pinata, Wilkinson is a good place. They have some party sets, like bids, rings, whistles, staff like that (what usually goes to party bags) but they also have some useful stuff like small pens, erasers, small notebooks, again designed for party bags and usually in sets of 4 or 6.0
