Wickes bathroom installation - any good?

I have just ordered a new bathroom in the Wickes sale - great price and some good discounts on the products.

They are also offering 20% off Wickes installation, bringing the total cost for 'dry' installation to £1900 (for a bath with shower over, built-in sink, back-to-wall built-in loo, and 2 separate cabinets). The trouble is, the estimate for the rest of the installation - tiling, extractor fan, plastering, etc is around £1900 but that's just a guide until the fitter comes round to see exactly what work is needed.

Does anyone have any experience of Wickes bathroom installations, and does £3800-£4000 sound like a fair price for installing a full bathroom like this? They've said they could do it in 5-7 working days, which is an added attraction! And it comes with a 2 year workmanship guarantee. Trouble is, we need to sign on the dotted line tomorrow (Sat 25th) in order to get the sale prices. Help!

Thanks!!

I know someone who was a self employed kitchen fitter, all the jobs he did were excellent. Over the years he had contracts from all the big Diy warehouses and anyone that had a new kitchen fitted by him was always pleased. But there were other fitters got contracts at times that were nothing more than cowboys.
I imagine getting a Wickes bathroom would be similar, 4 people out of 5 could be happy with the work but one is going to get the cowboy. Exactly the same when we get any work done around the house.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

All tradesmen are cowboys, will rip you off and you can get it cheaper/better/quicker elsewhere...Tut tradesmen ,unlike the powershower professionals are all untrustworthy fellows who smell and are ill educated..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Work for Wickes selling K&B and would say the following:

Like any national fitting service, you pay a bit more for having a big company warranty, but how much more can vary depending on what part of the country you live in. In my area, have found that we are fairly competitive on Bathroom installs though I know that this is not true everywhere.

How good your experience will be will depend almost entirely on how good the fitter is.

Would recommend that if you go for it, ask your DC for a fitter he/she knows & trusts, even if it means having to wait longer for them. The DC can request this, otherwise the fit will normally get allocated to the one with the shortest lead time, who is not always the best!

The good news is you do have comeback if things go wrong and it will be sorted...

Would also add that you do not have to buy tomorrow to get the offer! Methinks someone is trying to pull business into this period which ends tomorrow!;) The offer will still be on next week!
